All You Ever Wanted To Know About OSHA Recordkeeping ... But Were Afraid To Ask!

Most companies and employers are required to maintain the OSHA 300 form and complete and post the OSHA 300A summary form each year.  A growing number of companies are also required to provide OSHA with information contained on the OSHA 300 and 300A summary forms as part of the agency's Site Specific Targeting initiative.

OSHA has introduced a new Recordkeeping National Enforcement Program (NEP).  This program will involve the inspection of certain industries to determine the accuracy of their recordkeeping practices.  Many companies are required to report OSHA incident rates (calculated with data taken from OSHA logs) to their customers as part of the customer's prequalification process.  The need for accurate and correct OSHA recordkeeping has never been greater.

Important topics to be covered include:

Ø      How to properly complete and maintain an OSHA Log

Ø      Exactly what injuries are recordable?

Ø      Not all restricted work activity injuries are recordable

Ø      How to prevent certain injuries from becoming recordable

Ø      How to properly calculate the number of hours worked

Ø      How to calculate OSHA incident rates

Ø      How to compare your rates to industry benchmarks
